How to Enjoy Your Wedding Day: Embrace the Fun and the Chaos

A wedding day can be a lot of things. And yes, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the details, the timeline, and the expectations. But you know what makes a wedding unforgettable? The moments that happen in between, when you forget about the stress and just be with the person you’re marrying!

Callie & Bobby’s wedding is a perfect example of this. Their day took place on a private property in the Fraser Valley, BC, surrounded by breathtaking views, lots of nature, and, of course, their closest loved ones. From the minute they stepped into their ceremony with big smiles on their faces, it was clear this wasn’t going to be your typical wedding. And that’s exactly why it was so amazing!

One of the best ways to truly enjoy your wedding day is to focus on the moments that matter. Let go of perfection, embrace the joy, and enjoy your time with your loved ones.

Tip #1: Let Your Personalities Shine

The best weddings reflect the couple’s personality, and Callie and Bobby’s wedding was the perfect example. These two are hilarious! Their humor and energy were absolutely contagious, and I loved capturing their moments together. The way they interacted, the way they made each other laugh, it was unforgettable! I’m all about creating memories that you can feel, and with these two, it was all about capturing those spontaneous moments, whether it was a silly face, a playful kiss, or even a high five.

Pro tip: Don’t be afraid to let your personalities come through on your wedding day! Whether you’re an introvert or an extrovert, show up as your true self. If that means laughing, dancing, or even getting a little goofy, do it! You’ll look back at those photos years later and smile knowing you were exactly you on that day.

Tip #2: Don’t Forget to Have Fun with the Little Things

Weddings can feel like a whirlwind of activity, but it’s those little details that truly bring the joy! For example, one of my absolute favorite moments at Callie & Bobby’s wedding was when their dog walked down the aisle, yes, their dog! I can’t tell you how cute and unique that moment was! It was a total showstopper that made the ceremony feel so personal and lighthearted.

And don’t forget the dress change! Callie’s second look was a silk shorty dress with cowboy boots, SO fun and so them. It was such a refreshing way to mix it up and be more comfortable for the reception. You can tell by the way she was smiling that she was having the time of her life.

Pro tip: Have a little fun with your wedding details. You don’t have to follow all the traditions if they don’t fit your vibe. Do what feels good for you! Whether that means adding something quirky to your ceremony or changing into something comfy for dancing, it’s your day, and you should enjoy it to the fullest!

Tip #3: Be Present in the Moment (And Get Away from the Hustle!)

While there will always be a lot happening on your wedding day, it’s crucial to take a step back and breathe every now and then. A quick break from the crowd can be so refreshing, and I recommend taking a moment to soak it all in. Callie & Bobby had some alone time after their ceremony and before the reception, which allowed them to enjoy each other’s company and savor the excitement of becoming newlyweds.

Pro tip: Don’t forget to sneak away for a few minutes just the two of you. These moments will not only give you some much-needed time to reset, but they’ll also allow me to capture those intimate shots that are so special and full of emotion.

Tip #4: Have Fun with Your Photos!

Here’s the thing about wedding photos: They don’t have to be stiff or uncomfortable. Your engagement session, for example, is a great way to practice being in front of the camera (and have a lot of fun while doing it). Callie & Bobby’s engagement session was a blast—we laughed, they played, and we got creative. The photos we captured were so full of joy, and they were able to just be themselves.

Fast forward to their wedding day, and we did the same thing! We didn’t stress over posing; we just let the moments happen. We laughed, we played, and we took some seriously gorgeous, candid shots. And trust me, those are the ones you’re going to cherish forever.

Pro tip: Don’t be afraid to get a little silly or spontaneous during your photos! Let’s go beyond the typical posed portraits. Whether it’s running through the fields, jumping in the pool, or even splashing each other (yes, that happened, and it was amazing!), the more you embrace the fun, the better the photos!

Tip #5: Make Your Day Your Own

At the end of the day, your wedding is about you and your partner, and it should reflect your love story. Callie & Bobby didn’t have a traditional wedding, and honestly, that’s what made it so special. It was their day, their vibe, and their energy that made it unforgettable. From their dog down the aisle to the playful groom and father of bride first look, their wedding was a true reflection of who they are as a couple.

Pro tip: Make sure your wedding is a true reflection of you—not what’s expected or what others are doing. Whether you’re planning a laid-back ceremony in a backyard or a grand celebration, create a day that feels authentic to you!
