Michelle & Garrett’s Day

Let me take you back to Michelle and Garrett’s big day. This wedding was one for the books! Seriously, I cried my eyes out during the speeches (and let me tell you, that’s not something that happens every day!). It was just that emotional. There were heartfelt moments, lost loved ones being honored, and beautiful stories shared. One of my favorite things about weddings is witnessing the love people have for one another. Michelle and Garrett’s wedding was the perfect example of that love!

From the moment Michelle stepped out with her bridal party to the big reveal with both her birth father and adopted father, the air was filled with pure love and respect. Their ceremony was beautiful, but it was the personal connections that really stood out to me. Watching Michelle share a moment with both of her dads (and yes, I was teary-eyed behind my camera), was a memory I will never forget.

Funny Moments From Michelle & Garrett’s Wedding Day

BUT, I can’t write about this wedding without mentioning a hilarious moment. At the end of the night, we snuck away for some golden hour photos (because, come on, who doesn’t love golden hour photos?!). Then, Garrett decided it was time to pop a bottle of champagne to celebrate. Well… let’s just say Garrett and champagne aren’t exactly a match made in heaven! 😅

The cork just wasn’t coming out, and I had to Photoshop a spray in one of the photos because it was taking so long. But THEN, Garrett finally got it to pop, except he shook it too much and got a face full of champagne! 😂 It was honestly such a funny moment, and I couldn’t help but laugh along with them. But hey, at least I captured the memories, even if the champagne didn’t behave the way we wanted it to!

Tips for Your Own British Columbia Wedding

Carve Out Time for Each Other

One of the most important tips I can give you is to make time for yourselves on your wedding day. After the ceremony, it’s easy to get swept up in all the excitement, but taking just a few minutes alone together can be the most intimate and beautiful part of your day.

Michelle and Garrett took that time during golden hour, and the photos speak for themselves. Those moments are pure magic and often become some of the couple’s favorite images. So sneak away, breathe, and just be in the moment, trust me, it’s worth it! See more on my Instagram reel on how we did this!

Your Wedding Day Isn’t a Photoshoot

Now, I know we’re all obsessed with Instagram-worthy moments (guilty as charged!), but the truth is, your wedding day is about so much more than just posing for photos! Yes, I’ll get some gorgeous portraits of you and your loved ones. But the real gems are the candid moments, the laughter, the tears, the spontaneous hugs, and those sweet moments when you think no one’s looking.

I’m there to document your story as it unfolds. The more relaxed you are, the more real and emotional those moments will feel. So don’t worry if your hair gets a little messy or your dress gets a wrinkle, or a lipstick stain 😉 (it’s gonna happen, and that’s okay!). What matters is the story you’re telling.

Make Time for Golden Hour Photos

I know I’ve mentioned golden hour a few times already, but I can’t stress enough how important it is! That soft, glowing light is a photographer’s dream, and it will make your photos look like they came straight out of a fairytale.

But golden hour isn’t just about the pictures; it’s about creating a moment to be alone with your partner, away from the hustle and bustle. It’s a chance to reflect on the day, to really connect, and soak in the joy of being newlyweds. Trust me, these portraits will become some of your most cherished memories!

Soak It All In

Wedding days go by SO fast! It’s like the marathon of planning all comes down to one sprint of a day. Don’t let the whirlwind of the day overwhelm you—try to stay present in the moment! You’ll have time to laugh, cry, dance, and be surrounded by the love of your family and friends. But the most important thing is to enjoy it—because before you know it, it’ll be a memory.
